释义 | 〔tattoo〕The practice of tattooing the body is prehistoric, but the English wordtattoo was introduced fairly recently. Our word came from Polynesian languages such as Tahitian and Samoanand was introduced to English speakers by the explorer Capt. James Cook (who also gave us the wordtaboo ). The earliest use of the verbtattoo in English is found in 1769 in his account of a voyage around the world from 1768 to 1771. Cook also used a noun in his writings of 1769but treated it as a native wordso he is not given credit for the first use of the noun in English (recorded in 1777).In any event, sailors introduced the custom into Europe from the Pacific societies in which it was practiced, and it has remained associated with sailors, although many other people have tattoos as well. 但不管怎样,是水手们将这种原本是太平洋岛屿社会中的习俗带入欧洲的,所以直到今天这种做法仍然和水手们联系在一起,虽然各种职业的人们都在身上刺花纹〔caiman〕Any of various tropical American crocodilians of the genusCaiman and related genera, resembling and closely related to the alligators. 凯门鳄:一种凯门鳄 属美洲热带鳄鱼以及相关的种类,与短吻鳄相类似,并与之有着较近的亲缘关系 〔tantra〕Any of a comparatively recent class of Hindu or Buddhist religious literature written in Sanskrit and concerned with mysticism and magic.密教经典:任一部用梵文写成的成书时间距现在相对来说较近的印度教或佛教宗教文学作品,讲述了神秘主义和秘法〔near〕Closer of two or more:较近的:两者或多者当中较接近的一方的:〔this〕Used to indicate the nearer or the more immediate one:这个:用于指较近的或更近的:〔Phobos〕The larger and inner of the two planetary satellites of Mars.火卫一:火星的两颗卫星中较大的和离火星较近的一颗 |
